Avalon city was chaotic  ninty years ago and war often broke out here. Besides humans, there are many other beings in this world to scramble for the territory. Vampires and demons all wanted to occupy this city and drove humans living here out of it. Humans haven't enough ability to defense them, and eventually, witches used their power to help humans out of the slaughter. Since that, a treaty was created to maintain the peace and avoid wars among several beings. Witches live in this city with human  peacefully. 

Synopsis & Main Characters

In this fantasy novel, Avery is a witches and just like her mother. Avery's mother owns an apothecary shop and sell something to the local witch community. Her father was an orthodontist and has his own practice near Avalon university. Her parents respect her freedom and choice very much and often try their best to supply good conditions for her. Becca and her parents move to the community where Avery and her parents live in since she and Avery are children. They are neighbors and also best friends although they are different species. Becca is a human, which influence their friendship. In order to study together, they choose the same university and live in the same dorm. With the support of families, they are lucky enough to live in a dorm with a large kitchen. However, their dorm has no bathroom and they need to use the public bathroom in the hall. Becca is a girl who is admired by many boys. She often dates with boys at night and come back in the morning. Avery often has nightmares and is forced to wake up. The situation in dreams is like what happens in real life and she often feel unconfortable after a rest. When she go to the public to take a shower in the early morning, she should encounter a mysterious strange man who is handsome and knows her name. When he talk with her, she can't control herself to leave. Avery thinks that it's weird and dangerous……

Review of Avalon City 

The writer gave a vivid description on Avery's dream and many details are stated. However, the images of main characters are not concrete enough. Although the logic of the whole story is complete, the main plots are not clear. However, it's undeniable that the writer is very adept at paving ground for the development of plots. The beginning of this novel arouses the curiosity of readers and let them can't help knowing more details. Overall, it's  a good novel to read.
